Fours ways to reduce stress this holiday season

TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

Let's face it...the end of the year at work is stressful. There's never enough time to get everything done even though you vowed this year would be different.

Here are four tips to ensure this holiday season is a little brighter and a little merrier:

1. Make a checklist to finish out 2018. Take time to write down everything you need to do before you start vacation. I call these my "no matter what" items and they must get done each day. Cross off each one as you go. You'll feel accomplished when everything is checked off.

2. Plan ahead for 2019. Before you start vacation, jot down your first quarter goals. Start with an outline: what you want to accomplish and two or three behaviors you will implement. You'll rest easier knowing you've already got a plan in place.

3. Express gratitude and joy. During the holiday season when we're in the midst of the hustle and bustle, it's so easy to forget our manners. Take time to thank our coworkers, employees and customers and wish them a happy holiday season. Simple yet often overlooked. A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes a long way.

4. Take time for yourself. You've worked hard all year! Take some "me" time and do something unexpected for yourself. A massage, a long bath, a mani/pedi or even indulging in an hour long meditation does wonders for the soul. You'll feel rejuvenated and rested so you can enjoy your time off with family and friends
